Welcome to Spelkollektivet!

The not-for-profit community-driven co-living incubator

What is Spelkollektivet?

The vision of Spelkollektivet is to build creative spaces for indie game developers which transcends borders. Places where a person can spend a weekend or an entire lifetime, with the intent of fulfilling their dreams of making games, memories and friends.

The rent is low and everything is included - breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedroom, office space, internet, electricity, furniture, and consumables such as laundry detergent. You're sharing the experience with other awesome game developers from all over the world. Even though we might work alone on own projects, we're still a big team that always has each other's backs by sharing experiences and knowledge.

Location

Spelkollektivet is located in a small village in Sweden with a population of ~950. There's a grocery store available within 5 minutes of walking, and plenty of forest to explore. Communiting to a bigger city is easy by bus, and the buses pass through the town frequently. The adress to the house is Gamla Vägen 12, 362 51 Väckelsång, SWEDEN.

A random review

I came to Spelkollektivet to finish and self publish my game, I had a plan to stay for about 6 months. Now I have stayed here for 3 years already because I love the people here. Not only did I successfully release the game and grow my company into a middle sized indie studio making 2 games at the same time, I also made some good friends here. Not having to make your own meals frees up more time, and the food schedule and evening events have forced me to have a healthy work-life balance. My mental health has improved and I have grown as a person because of the free and accepting environment here. 10/10 from me. As an introvert, I always have my own space and can come out of my coccoon and make friends easily here. Of course, you can't hope that everybody will put their dishes away every day and not have the occasional interpersonal problem, especially with so many people living together. But I haven't found a better place on Earth to live in as an indie game dev and as a non-conventional and artsy woman.
